Margaret O'Brien is our chief crew member. She knows a thing or two about setting up and packing down a balloon, having been with us for over seven years. "Someone has to do the real work," she smiles. "They just float about in the air and have a good time." Margaret is also our caterer and it is she that creates your breakfast.
Justin Stein is our chief pilot and a director of the company. Growing up in a ballooning family he was bitten by the balloon bug at an early age. By the time he was eighteen he had gained his piloting licence and since then he has completed over 1500 flying hours. Justin is a highly skilled pilot having won the 2002 and 2003 state championships.
Lesley Stein is a director of the company and our administrator as well as being a highly qualified crew person. She has been doing this for seventeen years and is very capable. She is also highly adept at manouvering the retrieve vehicle through all sorts of terrain and can be relied upon to get you home each and every time - no matter where the balloon may land.
John Stein, originally qualified as a surveyor and trained cartographers at Uni of SA for 20 years. He was first introduced to ballooning in 1982 while helping out at the first national ballooning championship to be held in South Australia. Offered the chance of a flight he was immediately hooked and set out to gain his licence and become a pilot. He founded Balloon Adventures in 1986. In the twenty-one years he has been flying he has clocked up over 1700 hours as pilot in command. He has been heavily involved in the sport of ballooning and was instrumental in organizing the first international ballooning competition ever to be held in Australia. Now retired from flying, John was an accredited instructor and examiner, enthusing others with his love of the sport and helping them achieve their dreams of flight. He is a life member of the South Australian Balloon and Airship Club, has also been inducted into the Australian Ballooning Federation's Hall of Fame! John has now been promoted to the position of Balloon Adventures' Bus Driver.
